New at the Centre in time for this year’s winter season and Christmas, is our Arctic Snowy Owl affectionately named ‘Snowball’. This beautiful bird is only a youngster, but will impress you with her size!
Snowball is a female of the species, and sports dark flecks in its plumage, that sets it apart from the males, which are predominantly white in feather. She has striking yellow eyes and a black beak, a delight to witness as she flies towards you with a wide wingspan of four feet! Her calling sounds, so far as a youngster, are an amusing hybrid of a whistle and a shriek!
For you to get involved at the Centre over winter, we offer you the chance to get close to the Snowy Owl, giving that seasonal feel.
